I am an almost 27 year old single woman with no children. I am far more concerned with eradicating the no children part of that sentence than I am with changing the single part. Many of my friends are married. Some are not. I’m at that bizarre stage when it seems like everyone in my life who I was once right in line with are now all off doing different things. No one is on the same page; most of us aren’t even in the same book any longer. And, it is in this transition that I am realizing how much friendship and marriage have in common.

Someone once said “Never take someone for granted, hold every person close to your heart because you might wake up one day and realize that you have lost true diamond while you were too busy collecting stones”.

Every once in a while we all are taken for granted. We might not notice and we might not care, especially when it is done by people close to us: family, friends. But when it happens on a regular basis it hurts badly.

It’s amazing how in our life we rely on people. Even in smallest of our decisions we need their appreciation and support. We want them to stick to us, help us figure out where we went wrong and how to get back to the right path. We need them to tell us what the right path is. And it is not because we trust them too much (well, the truth to be told, we do) but because we trust ourselves too little.

She came to that café every day. Three years. Three long years. Thirty-six months. One thousand ninety-five days. Or one thousand ninety-six if she included today. She came there every single day. Be it rain or snow she still came. In joy or sorrow, crying or smiling she would still come. She would come even on doomsday if she had to. Preferably alone.
