Today is Tuesday which means that today’s post is Tuesday Love Ramblings and I am offering you an old short story of mine - “Complicated”
“Why?” He asked.
“I don’t know… It is…” She fell silent searching for the right word.
“Complicated?” He came to help.
“Well, yes, complicated.”
“Nothing complicated here, honey. I love you, you love me, why can’t we be together?”
“I am not telling you we cannot, it is just…”
“Complicated…” He sighed.
“Right. Complicated,” she repeated trying to avoid meeting his eyes.
“What’s on your mind?” He demanded. “What’s wrong?”
“Do you really not get it?”
He was taken aback at her unexpected aggression. Never before he had seen her so furious. And yet, at the same time she looked so helpless and confused.
“Do you really not get it?” She repeated. “I had been madly in love with you all these months. I was ready to make sacrifices you would never even dream of. I could easily die for you; do anything you would ask me. I cared about you. I believed in you. I trusted you blindly.”
“But…” He tried to interrupt her but it was impossible to stop her now.
“You were everything for me. And when she had come into the scene, I couldn’t believe it was you. YOU, of all people. It was not the person I knew, not the person I loved, not the one I wanted to spend my life with. It was not you.”
“But I love you.”
“I know you do. But things changed. They are … complicated now.”
“Complicated,” He repeated.
“I love you, too. But this madness is gone, this passion is not there, the trust needs to be rebuilt. I am tired to fight alone. I don’t know what else I can give you. I have given you my heart. And if this is not enough, then… I am not enough.”
“And what will we do now?”
“I don’t know… It is…”
“Complicated,” both breathed out simultaneously.
Destiny closed the book. She didn’t know what would happen to the two in the future. She had not decided on them yet. Once trust is broken you can never look at it the same way anymore. But maybe these two would stand another chance.
Destiny didn’t know. She would think about it tomorrow and then write a new chapter in the Book of Fortune. The chapter that would be a little bit complicated to write because it is always difficult to give people second chances…

Lovely post dear!
Trust, once broken is the hardest to rebuild
Some things just don’t be the same, once the trust is broken. I can empathize with her soooo much.

I am glad you liked this one, Akanksha
And right you are, we all have some issues with trust once it is broken. Sad.
[Reply]
It sure as hell is complicated. I’ll give you that.
But I do believe in second chances. So I’ll cling on to my ray of hope.

So do I, usually.. Sometimes it does not pay off though.

Brilliant! Lena, great little short post. Like Aniket, I hold fast to my ray of hope.

Thank you, Lisa
And yes, I knew you would stick to the hope

If trust is earned in the beginning and not blindly given as an un-earned gift, then it’s a bit more difficult to loose. Mistakes are more easily forgiven.
Also, it’s a good idea not to do something for which you will later have to apologize.

You made some fair points here, Chip. Though I think when we are hurt, we do not think that much sensible.

Hi Lena,
~ Beautiful version of emotions yet being so short but apt!
Complicated??
Ahh..I have always felt that sometimes yet just sometimes…life can be CLUELESSly so beautiful..though being complicated…sometimes…life can be bountiful…yeah it is difficult to switch thoughts and see new ways but there always exists few new doors…and we need to look forward to it.
Though philosophies can be only words sometimes..but one cannot ignore the importance of choosing from what life gives.
~ Learn and LET GO!

It’s really difficult for me to trust people again once they have broken that trust. Second chances can happen, but it will take time for the trust to be rebuild & things won’t really be the same as they once were.

You know I believe that in some cases you can get back to where you were and even more than that. But takes time and dedication, and a will, of course.
[Reply]
As ungracious as I sound, I cannot bring myself to trust someone when they’ve gone and broken it. Perhaps, they deserve a second chance … but if they didn’t care enough in the first place, what will make them care a second time around? Thanks for writing this.
Also wanted to let you know that I’ve nominated you for the Sunshine Award.

I don’t think there is anything ungracious about this statement, Mansi. I believe we all are different and some have difficulties to forgive and to let people back in their life. It only is natural.
Thank you for the award
I really feel honored!

wow this is such a beautiful post… I just loved how destiny is mentioned at the end… its true that one’s trust is broken… even destiny cannot bring people together…
lovely story.

You know I thought without destiny it would be just an average love story. Destiny makes it somehow different. let’s hope for them

This is such a lovely story. I have been in that ‘complicated’ position, as I’m willing to bet, many have.
I also believe in second chances, although the odds are against that success. Destiny’s ending is different for everybody, for some, ‘complicated’ begins a new chapter, and for others, the novel changes completely.
I also stopped by and voted for you! I just love your blog, stories, and reading the winners of contests too.

You are right, destiny has different things in store for everyone, but we also have ability to change it, if we are willing to do so.

nice, as usual.

Hey, I find story…stupid. Like why she would love him when that guy loves other girl. And the girl who said that she believes in second chances… .WELL. I don’t.
