And The Winner Is…
The day has come many of you have been waiting for so long. Now you can scroll down to the results and then get back to me to read this long post I have written for you.
Scrolled down? Back now? So I can continue. First of all I want to thank all of you - writers and readers - for participation in this contest. Without you it would not have been the same, I am sure. Like you all know there has been 40 entries and it was very tough to pick up 3 only. Since I did not expect so many submissions I really thought I will be able to judge the very few I receive on my own. But things turned out not the way I planned, so I needed help for judging. The so much required help came from Sai Kiran Publications which as you know sponsors the contest and provides us with great prizes. Today I am happy to introduce to you my co-judge, one of the editors of Sai Kiran Publications, and my very good friend, Miss Sameera Ansari.
Now about judging process. It has not been easy, you can guess that. We were reading and reading and reading. Separately from each other. Then we shortlisted a number of entries which according to us have all the potential to be the winners. Then the most complicated process started. To choose 3 winners. We had to rule out some really good entries due to silly grammar or punctuation mistakes. I know it might be harsh but that is 55 fiction, you cannot afford mistakes. It is just 55 words. Why not proofread it and then not proofread it again before submitting? And we had to cut off the shortlist some of the entries, the authors of which did not read the rules attentively enough. The rules of the contest clearly state that it should have been a NEW entry, previously not published anywhere.
In the end we had 6 entries, the authors of which showed amazing skills and powerful writing. Here even a smallest detail mattered and mainly the emotions you showed in your piece.
You might feel that we were a little bit subjective, as it is also about personal liking or not liking the story, but you can’t blame us as the variety of stories presented is really impressive. And all the winners really deserve it. As you remember I mentioned that we picked 6 stories which stood out. Now when we were choosing 3 winners it only mattered what topic the author has chosen and how well the story was polished. All 6 writers scored maximum points and only their individual skills and the level of excellence made a difference.
Ready for the winners?!
Here we go.
1st Place
Colored Conceptions by Gaurav / Sangfroid
2nd Place

Cheating by Eeshan Malhotra
3rd Place

Her Last Breath by Rajlakshmi
Now there are 3 more stories which deserve to be mentioned for their extraordinary style and concept. We decided to call them Noble Citations.
Noble Citations

Curtained by Zahid Hussain
Cubicles by Blue Rain
Today by Brian Thomas Clark
(no special order here, I went by the number of the authors’ entries)
All 6 authors will be featured for a month on The Colors Magazine with the links to their websites or blogs. The first 3 winners will also receive the books from our sponsor - Sai-Kiran Publications.
And then we have Readers’ Choice too. Remember how you all commented and voted for the entry you liked the most?
Readers’ Choice

Last Grip by Glee Leah May Sanogal
The competition was tough here too as you can see from the poll’s results.
Now when the contest is over, all of you can post your stories on your sites or blogs. And since all the winners got their badges, I thought that everyone else deserved their badge too as all of you have shown a wonderful talent and contributed a lot to the success of this first contest I hosted here on The Colors Magazine. I also want to say that in the coming week I will post my comments on all the stories with my feedback. And if you want to know how your story ranked and what you need to improve or to work on, you can write a mail to contests@thecolorsmagazine.com and I will surely reply to you. Remember that in a way all judging is always a bit subjective, but trust me we did our best to pick the best stories.

If you did not have time to read all the entries the index of them can be found here. Thank you all very much for this great contest, for your wonderful stories and comments. I hope when I host the next contest (and I will) we will find the same level of cooperation, dedication and talent as here.
Congratulations to all the winners!! Keep writing!
I also ask you to drop a comment or a mail to me with your feedback and suggestions on the contest so that I would take it into consideration when I will organize the next one. Want to know when the next one starts? Stay tuned. You know how. Do subscribe to The Colors Magazine if you did not do it.
Once again, thank you everyone and see you around.

Dear Lena
Literary I’m feel so guilty after I read all those participator’s 55fictions …I didn’t even attempt to this opportunity…Not even try….
As you know that mostly I have a tendency to write long posts…I thought this was something simply impossible for me to even think about it. And at the end I thought to slip it.
However, I have done my end research and soon you also see me writing my 55fictions in my blog. My strength to write this 55fiction goes to
You completely!! SO you owe a BIG BIG Thanks from me!!
Will Publish the fiction soon…
Needless to say…the decision made was absolutely great and deserving. Heartily congratulations to all the Participants and WINNERS!
Luv Yeah!
