3 Facts: Hong Kong

9 September 2009 25 Comments

Today here on The Colors Magazine I present 3 Facts about Hong Kong. Don’t ask me how I have chosen the city for One City - 3 Facts this time, do not really know what hit me that hard that I moved from Europe to Asia. But I must admit it is not that bad a choice.
The official name of the city is Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. I guess you would never have guessed, would you? Even if it is a part of Republic of China, Hong Kong enjoys a high degree of autonomy in all areas except only  foreign affairs and defence. You can read more on political set up and history of the city here. Not my task. My task is to tell you about some not so obvious facts of Hong Kong.

3 Facts about Hong Kong

1. Hong Kong has more Rolls Royce’s per person than any other city in the world

Ok, I am not the biggest fan of cars, and do not much about that anyways, but Rolls Royces are good, aren’t they? I don’t actually remember seeing one in my own city.

2. Hong Kong has the most sky scrapers in the world.

The city has has around 8000 sky scrapers which makes even  New York stay behind. Check out the most impressive Hong Kong’s buildings here.

3.  Hong Kong’s tram system is one of the three tramways in the world that have regular operation of double-decker trams  and it is the only one in the world that runs exclusively with double-deckers.

240 000 people use the tram every day. And needless to say it is also a great tourists attraction.

That is it for today. Don’t know where we will travel next week though. If you have any ideas let me know :)

    Hey lena,
I live in HK and can validate all your facts!
It indeed has the highest number of Rolls Royce and well that just gives you an Idea of the kind of money that this place has…inspite of it being disgustingly expensive!
    Sigh!
